Here we have a selection of comments from respondents ..........

We sent our daughter to a Private/Independent School which involved considerable sacrifices on our part to afford the fees. It does annoy me, however, that we will have paid twice for our daughter's education as the option of state education comes out of taxes that we have already paid!

Male Respondent - North of England

It seems totally unfair that the choice of school is decided by the area in which you live. We live just 500 yards from the boundary of a particular catchment area and because of this we were not granted the Secondary School of our choice!

Female Respondent - South of England

In my day, if you passed your 11+ examination you automatically went to a Grammar School. You could choose which Grammar School you attended in the region by taking a further Entrance Exam. If you passed you went there, irrespective of where you lived or what you could afford! Why can we not return to that system which was so straightforward and uncomplicated?
