There is clearly a reluctance to become a teacher at this time and the most common reasons given were:

(1) Lack of respect from pupils

(2) Coping with poor classroom behaviour

Below are some of the comments received from respondents

Some teenagers lack respect for each other, and adults. Also, there is little freedom within the curriculum for teacher expression.

Male Respondent - South of England

One needs the confidence to perform the task of teaching and NOT to aim to pass tests!

That is not education. Passing numbers to "WHITEHALL" should NOT be a sensible thing to have to do. Statistics can be used to prove anything!

Male Respondent - Central England

I've always aspired to be a teacher. It always seemed a great job. I always wanted to be a teacher as I really liked my teachers in primary school and respected them. I overall see the benefits of teaching and its the profession I will go into when I leave school and get qualifications to be a primary teacher.
