We should replace Council Tax, partly with a local sales tax, so that every one pays a bit, and then hopefully, values the services.

Why should you if you choose to do your house up with money you have alredy been taxed on be penalised and have to pay more rates absolutely ludicrous. Everyone should pay the same on different wage bands. The poll tax was the best idea yet! I think people just didn't understand it at the time . Rates are now over the top and we get less. The waste is in the amount of civil servants in local goverment and rental cars and seminars etc. They have their own meeting rooms but they go out and hold their seminars in expensive hotels etc.
